[English | 简体] Award of Contract
After the award of contract, there are a lot of contractual and financial issues to be immediately followed in order to comply with the specified terms and conditions and within specified time frame(s). These issues will be handled by the senior level of the organization. However it is wise to introduce these subjects to some site staff in case who might be helpful in the project office or the one who is about time to promote, particularly for the young engineers.
Letter Of Intent ( LI )
Letter of Intent is a letter of acceptance of the tender which includes all the terms and conditions as specified in the contract documents in addition to any modifications and discussions that are recorded by means of exchange of letters during the tendering stage.
Before a formal contract is prepared for joint signatures or seals, the client or its representative will usually issue a letter of intent first to the selected contractor for their preparation to commence work.
Signing of Contract
The formal contract will include all the documentation, attachments, drawings, addendum, security of the selected contractor and of course the tendered price for joint signature or seals.
The signing of contract should be performed and returned to the relevant parties shortly after the work commences. However for the signing of the sub-contract, some of the main contractors like to leave it to a later stage and sometimes even reluctant to return the signed copy to the sub-contractor. This is not fair and risky, and should be avoided.
