The site supervisor should note down this issue as the first activity in his check list for any proposed work and consult in advance whether statutory permit is necessary . Application for license / permit from the Local Authority usually needs comprehensive supporting documents and drawings and may require months of time for granting .
The statutory permits generally required for a project are as follows : -
a) Road Opening Permit from Highways Dept ;
b) Mariner Notice from Marine Dept ;
c) Dumping Permit from Civil Engineering Development Dept ;
d) Construction Noise Permit ( CNP ) from Environmental Protection Dept ;
e) Road Diversion Permit from Police Dept ; and
f) Blasting Permit from Mines Dept .
[ Construction DB Tips : Bearing in mind that the Government Departments are working strictly in compliance with the laws and regulations . If there is any omission of statutory license / permit found during the work , the Contractor shall be liable to the probable prosecution / penalty and suspension of work since there will be no favour and tolerance . ]
