[English | 简体] Working Hours

Normal Working Hours
There should be a clause in conditions of contract to specify the normal working hours on a job site . Any work carried out beyond these hours are considered as overtime work and may require prior application of permit .

[ Construction DB Tips : For security purpose , anyone appears on site beyond the normal working hours particularly at night should be recorded . ]

Required Middle / Night Shift
It is not encouraged to arrange the workers to work continuously to late night for a long period of time . Certainly sometimes it was appreciated by the workers that they could get a higher pay due to overtime work , however subject to lower efficiency , higher safety risks and might be under no supervision , the performance may not be relevant to the cost . Under this circumstance , an additional middle shift or night shift should be considered for the long duration of scheduled overtime work .

[ Construction DB Tips : If the worker does not have sufficient time for rest and restore his energy for the next day work , his deficiency will cumulate on and on until he is down or hurt . ]

Statutory Holidays
When site supervisor prepares his short term programme , he should be aware of the local statutory labour holidays . For engineering staff who works overseas , this is also a main issue to note particularly in relation to the various religions .

[ Construction DB Tips : Experience tells that when workers working on statutory holiday , it seldom has the full day work in return . ]
