Major Hong Kong Consultant Firms

Traditionally , the Hong Kong Government likes to sublet the study , design and supervision of the major projects to the consulting engineers . This arrangement may be owing to the shortage of high calibred engineers in the government departments , but no doubt one of the main reasons was that the Government did not have to maintain these professional teams after the completion of the projects .

In the past century , these overseas consultant firms in fact had a great contribution to the construction industry in Hong Kong and gradually transferred the modern technology to the local engineers and supervisors . Nowadays you may find that some well known consultant firms in the past days , eg. Binnie & Partners , Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick , Freeman Fox , Mott Hay , etc. had been sometime re-organized in Hong Kong and is now using new company name for its continued business . The followings are the prevailing company names as in 2004 .
