Polyester is short for polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a category of polymers containing the ester compounds in their main chain. Polyester is a very strong fiber. Carpets made from polyester dry easily when wet and are easy to clean. They are also resistant to mold growth and chemicals. Polyester carpets are also resistant to wear by abrasion.
